Today was amazing, the sales person at boots, maung, was amazing. I was browsing for some hiking boots but I didn't want it to be heavy nor hiking sneakers, he recommended me the Danners Viscious which was guess what? Everything I needed in a hiking boot, he explained to me how versatile they were! These are the boots I can use for work, hiking, just anything without the HEFTY weight of wearing boots! They are light as sneakers and also provide my foot great support in the arch. Maung is a great salesman even tho he denies it! Hes the guy to ask for he KNOWS what boots you need for your feet after asking a few questions for what your NEEDS are!

Big Ray's is the outfitter you need for the wonderful winter wonderland that is Alaska. Just look at their boot selection: I dare say I've never seen so many boots at one place in my whole life. The prices are high, but the end product is really worth it. You'll hardly find a better place to buy your name-brand XTRATUF'S in any size. (Btw, aren't XTRATUF'S basically the Supreme of Alaska? Food for thought)

Yesterday I went to this location just visiting Anchorage, wasn't looking for anything particular just looking around. The guy at boots, I believe the name tag he had on his vest wrote Maung? He asked me what type of work I do and what I wanted in the boot, he was very particular and somehow I ended up walking out of the store with a brand new pair of Georgia boots! It was exactly what I needed, the current boots I have still works fine but its near breaking apart, he did an amazing job he knows what boots fits your needs and wants! I recommend Maung if your ever looking to buy some boots.

Another store that has been shopped at for decades. Not particularly this location, but the name Big Rays. It means something to lifelong Alaskans.

2020- updated with pix only 2018-Great quality store the staff is very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. They carry all the brands they got to great outdoor gear summer gear anything that you could think of they have it if not they order it. Yes their prices are a little higher than Department stores but the quality is there it backs it up it’s worth it it’s got a huge huge lay out check it out it’s worth it it’s in a every outdoor lovers dream.

Friendly and has everything for your hiking needs!! Mostly clothes, with a lot of great brand names available. Some really cool hats too! Employees greeted me right as I walked through the door despite the line they were dealing with. Everything was quick and professional, and the store was tidy. Great atmosphere!
